Dogecoin and Ether rank in top 10 news searches on Google in 2021

The top two most searched terms on Google in 2021 were Ether (ETH), and Dogecoin.

Google’s annual listing of top searches for the year was released on December 7. It broke them down into several categories, including news, search, news, people and games.

Google Trends’ Year in Search 2021 revealed that Dogecoin was fourth in terms of most searched news terms in Google in 2021. This is both global and in the United States. News related to “Ethereum price” was ranked number 10.

The top searched items include topics such as Afghanistan, AMC stock and COVID-19 vaccine, GME Stock, stimulus check, and GME stock. In 2020, not a single cryptocurrency made it onto the list.

It is worth noting that Bitcoin (BTC), which is the most valuable cryptocurrency on the market, does not feature in any Year in Search 2021 category either in the United States or worldwide.

Dogecoin was launched in 2013 and has been one of the most popular cryptocurrencies. It entered the list of top 10 largest cryptocurrencies according to market capitalization earlier in the year. This year, DOGE has risen by over 50%, largely due to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, who promoted DOGE via Twitter in 2020.

According to CoinGecko data, DOGE has risen nearly 5,100% in the past 365 days compared to Ether’s 632% increase. Bitcoin, however, is up about 160% in the past year.
